Rooted in 1948 – Civil engineer Reynolds Andricks introduced the idea of a nighttime illuminated parade for San Antonio’s growing festival.

“Flambeau” means “torch”- early participants lit the route with torches and flares, creating a glowing nighttime spectacle.

Today, it’s known as “America’s largest illuminated night parade,” featuring dazzling lights and unforgettable performances.

Massive participation & audience – over 150 parade entries travel a 3.1-mile route, drawing nearly 800,000 spectators downtown each year!

Chair and bleacher seats are available for purchase along the route. Residents can also take their own seating or stand behind the street chairs.
