SUMMARY:Brackenridge Park Conservancy's Family & Friends Fishing Day (Fall)
DESCRIPTION:Overview \nJoin the Fin Addict Angler Foundation and Brackenridge Park Conservancy for the annual Family & Friends Fishing Day. This event introduces youth aged 5–16 to the joy of fishing\, featuring a special release of over 600 channel catfish into the San Antonio River.  Bring your own favorite fishing rod & reel and bait. \nRegistration \n\n\nProcess: Pre-register online as one family unit\, listing the guardian and all participating youth. \n\n\nFinalization: Complete your registration at the park check-in station on event day. \n\n\nRecommendation: Early registration is highly encouraged to guarantee a high-quality experience.  \n\n\n\nSchedule & Activities\n\n\n9:00 AM – 11:00 AM: Free fishing lessons covering casting and reeling basics from expert instructors and literature from the TPWD. \n\n\nCatfish Stocking: Over 600 channel catfish will be released for families to catch. \n\n\nGear Loaners: The first 100 beginners can secure a rod\, reel\, and bait for a $10 contribution to cover the cost of upkeep. \n\n\n\nFishing Contest: Prizes awarded to anglers aged 16 and under for the first fish caught and the largest fish. \n\nRules & Important Info \n\n\nLicensing: No fishing license is required during event hours courtesy of TPWD. Standard Texas fishing licenses are required for aged 17 and up after the event. \n\n\nSupervision: Adults/parents/guardians must accompany and supervise children at all times. \n\n\nMeeting Point: Meet at the registration station and park at the Joske Pavilion. \n\n\nWeather: Cancellations due to severe weather will be posted on the official website and Facebook page.
